CAREER ACTIVITIES FOR SPRING 2012 TERM

 

Career Workshops

Presented during Spring Term, and targeted to all serious-minded students, this workshop series will provide practical, comprehensive training for job market success, including job search strategies, resume writing, interview preparation, and graduate school preparation.  There are two opportunities this semester to attend each session.

 

Job Search Strategies

Tuesday, March 13, 3:30-5:00 PM, Norton Theatre

Learn how to manage your campaign so that you can be the best candidate and get the best job. Gain understanding of progressive job search approaches, including job market research, networking techniques, and prospecting methods. Learn how to penetrate the hidden job market. 

 

Resume Writing 

Wednesday, April 11, 3:30-5:00 PM, Norton Theatre

Learn how to produce a professional resume based on good marketing strategy. Gain understanding of the philosophy, psychology, and mechanics of writing a resume that will grab attention and spark interest. Get tips on the format, layout, and content of an effective resume. Learn the basic steps to writing a dynamic resume.
 

Interview Preparation 

Monday, April 23, 3:30-5:00 PM, Norton Theatre

Learn how to effectively prepare for your next job interview. Get tips on presentation techniques, professional attire, and strategies for responding to the interviewer's questions. Gain insight into the subjective, behavioral, and attitudinal factors of the interview process.

 

Graduate School Preparation 

Tuesday, April 17, 3:30-5:00 PM, Norton Theatre
Learn how to explore your graduate and professional school options. Understand the timeline and application process. Gain insight into the critical factors that enhance grad school candidacy. Get advice about writing your personal statement. Learn about financial options.  Learn about the various grad school tests.
